First-party Search Console study

54,834 impressions. 52 clicks. What the gap actually revealed.

In 28 days, Georion nearly doubled Google impressions while CTR remained below 0.1%. This public case study separates visibility growth from traffic growth and shows where rankings, intent overlap, and authority constrained clicks.

Finding one

More impressions did not mean proportionally more traffic.

Impressions increased 86.1% and clicks increased 44.4%. Average position improved by 18.6 positions, but most visibility still occurred beyond page one. CTR fell from 0.122% to 0.095%, a reminder that impression growth can precede meaningful click growth when rankings remain weak.

Finding three

The closest page-one result was the clearest click opportunity.

The Perplexity guide averaged position 10.3 and received 1,679 impressions with no clicks. Unlike pages averaging positions 40 to 70, this URL was close enough for title quality, source credibility, and a focused content refresh to matter immediately. The study therefore prioritizes ranking thresholds, not raw impression totals alone.

Visibility expanded

The site entered many more result sets and average position improved materially.

Rankings stayed shallow

Most impressions were generated beyond the result range that earns consistent clicks.

Intent overlapped

Four pages competed around Moz alternative language before their roles were clarified.

Authority remained limited

At the time of capture, Search Console reported 37 external links from five source domains.

Methodology

How the data was collected

Data came from the Google Search Console Web performance report for the domain property sc-domain:georion.app. The current and previous periods each contain 28 days. Page rows use the same current date window and are ordered by impressions.

Search Console average position is an impression-weighted average across queries, devices, countries, and search result contexts. The study describes one site and should not be generalized as an industry benchmark. It reports observed correlation, not proof that any single change caused ranking movement.
